Second Baptist Church loves missions! It doesn’t matter where or who you are, there is a place where you can be involved in serving God either locally, nationally, or internationally through the arm of the church.
Here are some of the mission opportunities that are offered, but please know that as opportunities arise our church is always ready to respond:
Church Mission Opportunities:
Meals of Love
When a family or individual in the church experiences the loss of a loved one, Meals of Love seeks to provide a meal for the family at the church. If you enjoy cooking and seeing how God can use you this talent to minister to others this is a great ministry for you.
Monday Night Missions
This is a group of women in the church that seek to serve the church through various ministries of service. (Meets every Sunday at 5PM- Fellowship Hall)
Women on Missions
This is for a group of women that meet to discuss and pray for missionaries all over the world. (Meet 4th Monday)
This is our local ministry arm where our men will at the request of those in the community provide small construction projects as needed. The main area that is provided is the construction of wheel chair ramps. This group helps to put on the annual Sportsmen Night Out and Catfish Dinners.
White Bible Group
This is a group in our church that seeks to provide white Bibles to those in the community that has newborn babies.
Our church has a portion of our budget that is designated for benevolence opportunities. There are times when we will collect specific items to be given to families that are in need.
Other Mission (Expressing) Opportunities:
As a church body one of the mission opportunities that we seek to serve our local ministries through the collecting of items or gifts that can help to minister to individuals outside of our body of believers. Some of these include but are not limited to: The Agape House- Martin, Lifebeat Center- Tiptonville, Obion County Ministerial Association, Obion Couny Walk of Hope, etc.
Samaritan’s Purse- Operation Christmas Child
Our church is a supporter of providing shoeboxes that will be distributed throughout the world to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ on Christmas day. We also have a team that annually attends one of the distribution centers and works in the facilities to help send out more boxes.
We always want to encourage our members to be active in missions and we know that there are many areas where we can serve both here locally and internationally. If you have a question about an upcoming trip or mission opportunity then please contact our Director of Missions- Dwayne Ervin.
